Decision Making: Explained

What if I told you every decision you’ve made in your life is connected with The Six Human Needs? I am obsessed with books about efficiency, psychology, growth, success and performance. They all talk about various concepts and strategies to get stuff done and improve your life, but none are as powerful as the “Six Human Needs”, which coaching guru, Tony Robbins, refers to as the reason we do anything.

… so what are the 6 human needs? Scroll down to find out!

  1. Certainty: assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure

  2. Uncertainty/Variety: the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli

  3. Significance: feeling unique, important, special or needed

  4. Connection/Love: a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something

  5. Growth: an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding

  6. Contribution: a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to and supporting others

Most people have two top human needs that drive most of their decisions. Those needs explain your purpose behind those negative (and positive!) habits, routines, behaviors, relationships, career choices and more. Mine are connection and growth. To take the quiz for yourself, and discover your own, you can go here.

The wealthiest person on earth is one who appreciates.
— Tony Robbins
